Crown Thinning
The removal of smaller branches from the crown of a tree, allowing wind to pass through more freely and allowing more light to pass through.
Crown Lifting / Raising
The removal of the lower limbs from the crown of a tree. Often carried out to allow people and vehicles to pass under a tree without causing damage or injury.
Stump Grinding
Tree stumps can be removed by grinding out using a stump grinder machine. This is a quick and efficient method of removal which can help prevent the spread of diseases to neighbouring trees.
Deadwooding
Older, more mature trees tend to accumulate dead wood in the crown, which is natural and good for the tree's ecosystem. However, it is sometimes necessary to remove this dead wood to reduce the risk of falling debris causing damage or injury.
Pollarding
A method of pruning where the primary branches are repeatedly removed back to the secondary branches to keep trees small and under control. Pollarding typically happens on a 2-5 year cycle but it is not a suitable pruning method for all tree species.
Hedge Maintenance
Hedges can quickly grow out of control if not maintained regularly.
Hedge trimming promotes growth and health of the hedge as well as resulting in an attractive shape. We always carry out full ecology check for evidence of nesting birds, bats and other protected species. We will postpone work for nesting birds as appropriate and will contact ecologists if any protected species are identified. All wood waste is either disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner, recycled or repurposed into the local community.
